Dr. Zoubeir LAFHAJ is a full Professor at Centrale Lille, and researcher at the Lam3 research center and holder of the « Construction 4.0 » chair, an industrial research chair that addresses the challenges of modernizing the construction industry in France and Europe. The industrial research expertise of Dr. Zoubeir LAFHAJ focuses on (i) additive manufacturing (3D printing) for construction, industrialization, and robotization of construction, (ii) the applications of AI, blockchain, and BIM in construction and finally (iii) value, productivity, quality, lean construction, logistics, and collaboration with all stakeholders in the construction industry. He works internationally to make the CC4.0 Chair a European Hub of Construction 4.0 involved in a solid international network with the most advanced experts in the world.

Dr. Zoubeir LAFHAJ is the founder and President of the French Lean Construction Institute – IFCL, a non-profit association created in May 2021 whose aim is to develop the practice of lean approach in the construction sector in France by federating a community of stakeholders involved.

He has recently published five scientific books in French on « the lean construction revolution », « blockchain in construction », « women in construction », « logistics in construction », and « the vision of the city and the site in 2049 ». He has written more than 150 scientific articles, supervised 31 doctoral theses, and 15 postdoctoral researchers. He is a member of the editorial board of several scientific journals of rank A and an elected member of the board of the International Association for Automation and Robotics in Construction (IAARC).

He is currently the Chairman of the Organisation of the annual world conference IGLC31 (International Group of Lean Construction) which will be organised in Lille from 26 June to 2 July 2023.
